SARah haney


Sarah is a junior from Louisville, Kentucky double-majoring in Russian and Political Science while also pursuing an Arabic or Economics minor. She was an Under-Secretary-General for crisis committees at VUMUN XV and a chair at VUMUN XIV. Besides VUMUN, Sarah competes with the Vanderbilt Model United Nations team, serves as Co-President for and volunteers with Project: Bridges at Vanderbilt, plays the harp in Vanderbilt Commodore Orchestra, and shoots with the Vanderbilt Trap & Skeet Club Team. She loves spending time with her friends, her Alpha Chi Omega sisters, and her hedgehog named Quilliam - whether she’s studying, playing video games, or exploring Nashville. The highlight of Sarah’s semester is making VUMUN XVI the best VUMUN she can imagine for this year’s delegates!

Jason Lao


Jason is a junior from Irvine, California double-majoring in Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics while also thinking of adding a Philosophy minor (we’ll see if that actually happens). He was Director of Technology at VUMUN XV and a staffer at VUMUN XIV. When he’s not busy balancing the conference budget and keeping track of finances, Jason is an engineer on Vanderbilt’s Robotics Team, a strategy consultant and data analyst for an on-campus consulting group for non-profit organizations, a member of a Vanderbilt Student Government committee, an organizer for Vanderbilt’s annual VandyHacks hackathon, and a regular at the recreation center. He loves photography and listening to Spanish music while studying. Jason looks forward to making VUMUN XVI the best one yet!



Chief of Internal Affairs

Reilly Dodd is a junior from Houston, Texas but grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He is majoring in Law, History, & Society as well as Political Science. He has been involved in Model United Nations since his first travel conference sophomore year of high-school and was most recently the Ad-Hoc Committee Chair for VUMUN XV. He looks forward to helping staffers and his fellow Secretariats alike as the Director of Internal Affairs. While not studying with his friends or desperately trying to find an internship, Reilly can be found balancing Alpha Phi Omega’s budget as the co-ed national service fraternity’s Treasurer. He is very excited to be a part of VUMUN XVI and cannot wait to share his love of Model United Nations with America’s freshest batch of future Best Delegates.



Director of Logistics

Arjun Bansal is a Junior from New Delhi, India (but he grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia) who is majoring in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics. He was a co-chair in the Roman Senate at VUMUN XIV, Under-Secretary General of GA’s in VUMUN XV and is looking forward to being the Director of Logistics at VUMUN XVI. While he isn’t dying from a work overload, Arjun is a Residential Adviser at Warren and Moore College, he enjoys binging on everything from good food to books to TV shows and likes to play board games. He is the President of the Vanderbilt Mathematics Club and teaches middle-schoolers science with Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science. He is extremely excited to be a part of VUMUN XVI and cannot wait to share his love for MUN with all participants.


Anna Sorenson

Chief of Staff

Anna is a junior from Clarksburg, MD studying Human and Organizational Development and minoring in Business. She was a Crisis Director for VUMUN XV and is thrilled to be working on Secretariat with her outstanding peers. Outside of VUMUN, Anna competes on the Vanderbilt Model United Nations team, serves as a member of the entertainment committee for Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon, and is a member of Students Promoting Environmental Awareness and Responsibility. In her free time, Anna enjoys exploring the Nashville food scene with her friends, organizing picnics in the quad with her roommates, writing speculative fiction works, and spending an unhealthy amount of time watching Grey’s Anatomy and The Office. Anna cannot wait to work with all the amazing staff members of VUMUN and watch another amazing conference unfold!


Casie slaybaugh

Under-Secretary-General of Crisis

Casie is a junior from Richmond, Virginia triple majoring in Engineering Science; Medicine, Health, and Society; and Political Science. She was a committee Co-chair for VUMUN XIV, a Crisis Director for VUMUN XV, and is excited to have amassed even more power as USG-C in VUMUN XVI. Casie works in an allergy and pulmonary lab, is Historian of her sorority, competes on Vanderbilt’s Model United Nations team, and is a Dore for a Day host, a member of the Executive Steering Committee of the Undergraduate Political Science Association, and a mentor in the School of Engineering. In her limited free time, she enjoys watching historical fiction and attending all the sporting events she can. Casie is very excited to see how all of her committees spin out in VUMUN XVI!


Zach Antwan

Under-Secretary-General of General Assemblies

Zach Antwan is a junior from Detroit, MI majoring in Computer Science and minoring in mathematics. He was a committee Co-Chair for VUMUN XIV, a Chair for UN-DOALOS at VUMUN XV, and is very excited to be serving as the USG-GA for VUMUN XVI. Zach also is the Social Chair for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. After his endless hours of studying and doing homework, Zach enjoys spending his time playing a lot of soccer and volleyball as well as watching soccer and football a lot. He also enjoys going on long runs exploring the city. VUMUN XVI is going to be an exciting time for Zach!



Chief of External Affairs

Ankit Patel is a sophomore from Monroe, New Jersey double-majoring in Economics and Human and Organizational Development with a minor in Political Science. He was his high school Model UN club’s Secretary General and was chair for the 30 Years Peace Crisis Committee in VUMUN XV. He is involved on campus in Student Government in the Student Services Committee, the Model UN Travel Team Social Committee, and Prison Project Community Outreach Committee. When not taking interesting classes like Environmental Philosophy, Justice, or Causes of War, he can be found going through Reddit, playing video games, or watching shows on Netflix. He looks forward to meeting the talented delegates of VUMUN XVI, talking to them about anything and everything!


Nilai Vemula

Director of Technology

Nilai is a sophomore from Memphis, TN who is double majoring in Physics and Biology and is minoring in Math, Chemistry, and Scientific Computing. In high school, he was the Secretary-General of his school's one-day conference and head delegate of the travel team. He was a delegate at VUMUN in high school and was a Crisis Director for the Impeachment of Bill Clinton committee last year. Nilai is the head delegate of the Vanderbilt MUN Travel Team, as well as a volunteer for Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science. Additionally, he works as a Research Assistant in the Physics Department studying the forces between epithelial cells. In his free time, he likes exploring Nashville, hanging out with friends, and trying new food. Nilai is super excited for VUMUN XVI!


Nicholas Ramirez

Chief of Staff

Nick is a senior from Miami, FL double majoring in Law, History, and Society & Philosophy and minoring in Chinese. He was a chair in the Zaken van de Transvaal at VUMUN XVI but has been doing MUN for six consecutive years - President at his high school as well as the founder of a chapter at Miami Dade College - and is a Director of Logistics for Vanderbilt’s travel team. In the few free moments Nick has, he enjoys listening to judicial podcasts, catching up with the many seasons of Game of Thrones that have passed him by, and competitively playing Rainbow Six Siege. Nick is looking forward to witnessing the success of VUMUN XVI’s many talented delegations!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       



Under-Secretary-General of Crisis

Having attended VUMUN as a high school student from Memphis, Tennessee, Ben’s love for this conference is only exceeded by his love of BBQ. At VUMUN XIV, he chaired the CIA’s opposition against the KGB, and served as USGC during VUMUN XV. Ben is a senior majoring in molecular biology. He is the treasurer for Students Against Modern Slavery, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity’s executive board, and a site leader for Alternative Spring Break.  While he spends most of his time studying, Ben would rather be playing ultimate frisbee or petting dogs. VUMUN XVI can’t come soon enough for Ben!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           


Cameron Sheehy

Under-Secretary-General of General Assemblies

Cameron Sheehy is a sophomore from Marlborough, Massachusetts. He is majoring in History and Asian Studies with a specialization in Japan. In high school, he was vice-president of his MUN club and Secretary-General of his high school’s conference and attended conferences at Brown University and the University of Chicago. At VUMUN XV, he was the chair for the 1989 Chinese Politburo, and he is looking forward to serving as USG-GA at VUMUN XVI! He is the Vice President of the Japanese Cultural Foundation and Asian Studies Program club. Outside of Vanderbilt University, Cameron enjoys drinking coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts, playing with and sending pictures of his cat Crash, and watching anime. Cameron is very excited to see how all of his committees turn out this year!
